During her recent Ask Me Anything session on Reddit, Olympic medalist and UFC Champion Ronda Rousey was questioned about her interest in donning a cape and cowl for a possible superhero role on the big screen. The undefeated Rousey answered back with a very intriguing choice.
Since then, Rousey has received a bevy of artistic illustrations which she has shared on her Instagram, depicting the toughest women in the world as the toughest superwoman in the Marvel Universe.
Ms. Marvel (now known to the comic book universe as Captain Marvel) is former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot Carol Danvers, a mainstay of the Marvel Universe for decades and an integral member of many super teams including the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Back in October, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige laid out the plans for Phase 3 of the epic Marvel Cinematic Universe, including a Captain Marvel film slated for 2018. Feige also confirmed that the hero taking up the movie mantle of Captain Marvel will be none other than Carol Danvers.
With the incredible super powers of superhuman strength, flight and energy blasts, Danvers also has the advantage of her experience as an Air Force pilot and officer. In fact, the title of “Captain Marvel” is just a legacy name passed down to her – Danvers actually left the service as a Colonel, outranking even Captain America!
