UFC Interim Champion Fabricio Werdum never fought the takedown. He waited for it. And waited for it. And along the way, he bloodied and battered (and took down) Cain Velasquez in stunning fashion as Werdum finally got what he wanted … Cain coming in for the double leg takedown. And that’s when Fabricio Werdum caught Velasquez in a guillotine and forced him to tap out. This is exactly what our boss Paul Heyman predicted would happen earlier this week at THE LOOKING4LARRY AGENCY (our parent company)’s staff meeting. “Werdum will lure Cain in, just like he lured in Fedor. But Cain won’t follow him to the ground on a knockdown. So Werdum must have studied the takedown. And when Cain goes for the takedown, Werdum will be ready!”
And that’s exactly what happened, 2:13 into the third round. “I had a good strategy,” Werdum said afterward. “I had a big dream, and I got it today.”
