Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez will fight UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson on April 20th at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, the arena that served as Strikeforce’s home since the promotion’s inception.
The five round fight for the 155 pound title will headline UFC ON FOX 7, and the co-main event is a very interesting matchup as well. Undefeated Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Champion Daniel Cormier has beensigned to take on Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir in a fight that may be Cormier’s last as a heavyweight. With Cain Velasquez as 265 pound king, Cormier has now vowed to move down to 205 and kick Jon Jones’ ass.
