The media has been going crazy since early Thursday morning,when Nicki Minaj’s highly anticipated third album, The Pinkprint kinda sorta leaked online. We say “kinda sorta” because the album is already out in New Zealand and Australia, so all these media outlets going wild over her duet with ARIANA GRANDE are just looking for page views.
The Pinkprint officially drops in the United States on December 15th, with the thrust of the initial hype surrounding the duet with Grande, a hyper-sexed-up song called Get On Your Knees. Minaj teamed up with Grande on the Jessie J song Bang Bang, but Get On Your Knees is the duo’s first duet. The club track is all about female domination, and the chorus repeatedly implores their men to skip the cute stuff and “get on your knees.”
A sample verse contains the lyrics “I don’t need a dozen roses / you ain’t gotta wine and dine me, no / I don’t need a pretty boy / getting all emotional,” Grande croons over the chorus. “You gotta beg for it, beg for it.”
Minaj and Grande team up for the bridge, doubling down on the domination: “If you want it all, it’s non-negotiable / so do it as I say / If you wanna get the job, you better know who’s the boss.”
Minaj’s enormous fan base rushed to listen to and download the tunes, which includes not only the Grande duet, but a new collaboration with Beyonce entitled Feeling Myself. Minaj’s label reps have moved quickly to get the unauthorized tracks taken down from a number of online sources by filing copyright complaints. The Pinkprint also features guest appearances by Meek Mill, Skylar Grey, Chris Brown, Drake and Lil Wayne.
