ABC’s Late Night Host Fights Hard Not To Break Down While Describing The Influence Letterman Has Had on His Life!
Tonight’s final broadcast of The Late Show with David Letterman has everyone talking, especially those whose jobs are to talk on their own shows for a living. Over on ABC, Jimmy Kimmel paid tribute to Letterman with a stirring, emotional speech that gripped all those in attendance and the viewers watching at home. Letterman’s impact on this generation, which is obviously far more than the impact made by Jay Leno, can only be compared to the impact made on Letterman and his contemporaries (one of which is Leno) by Johnny Carson. It’s a fitting legacy for the man many felt should succeed Johnny, and perhaps the impact made by Letterman provding The Tonight Show with its only real long term competiton (until, ironically, Kimmel came along) is indeed the succession from Carson he always sought.
