The Very First “Suicide Squad” Trailer Takes Over DC FanDome

The Suicide Squad director James Gunn had all the buzz coming out of the weekend, as he shared a behind the scenes video promoting the movie at DC FanDome.

Idris Elba plays BloodsportJohn Cena plays PeacemakerSNL star Pete Davidson plays BlackguardMargot Robbie reprises her role as Harley QuinnViola Davis as Amanda Waller … and Jai Courtney will play Captain Boomerang.

Gunn said The Suicide Squad was “by far the most fun I’ve ever had making a movie.”

He’s also said fans shouldn’t fear he wasn’t given a free hand to make the film he wanted, tweeting it’s “100%, zero interference, no-holds-barred ME.”

Gunn wrote and directed the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films for Marvel, but signed on for The Suicide Squad after Marvel briefly fired him for off-color tweets. Producer Peter Safran has said The Suicide Squad is not a direct sequel to the original 2016 film Suicide Squad, though it features numerous returning characters.

This is not “Suicide Squad 2” … it’s “The Suicide Squad” … and the reaction at the DC FanDome via the virtual audience was sensational.
