Nine years after its acclaimed debut, Steven Knight and Tom Hardy’s gritty 19th-century crime drama Taboo is finally showing signs of life. Despite pulling in massive viewership and earning a swift renewal back in 2017, the BBC and FX series stalled in television limbo due to its creators’ packed schedules.
Now, co-creator Steven Knight has confirmed that a concrete plan to resurrect the series is officially in place. In a recent interview with the UK’s Radio Times, Knight revealed that he and Hardy have mapped out the next chapter and know exactly what they want to do. According to Knight, the only remaining hurdle is finding the time to film it.
The near-decade delay was simply a byproduct of packed schedules—Knight expanding Peaky Blinders and Hardy leading Venom. Now, with Knight’s The Immortal Man in theaters and Hardy’s Marvel run finished, their calendars are finally clearing up for Hardy to return as the intense adventurer James Delaney.
What do you think about the return of Taboo? Sound off on social media, we’d love to know your thoughts!
